About the house

Casa Begnudini, the "Landscape Refuge" in Ticino, Switzerland, is a simple and cosy group accommodation for anyone wishing to experience the unspoilt Bavona Valley. This side valley of the Maggia Valley is one of the steepest and rockiest valleys in the Alps, captivating visitors with its dramatic cliffs, unique cultural landscape and pristine nature. At the upper end of the valley lies Robiei, at the foot of the Basodino Glacier, which can easily be reached by cable car. Over the centuries, people have created meadows, fields and gardens among the rocks and gorges. The valley's twelve historic hamlets, inhabited only during the summer months, are especially worth visiting. The accommodation is located in the village of San Carlo, just a short walk from the Basodino Restaurant, the PostBus stop and the starting point of numerous hiking trails. Carefully renovated, the house combines the charm of a traditional Ticino stone house with practical facilities for groups. Casa Begnudini accommodates up to 18 guests. It features a spacious, well-equipped kitchen, a cosy dining room, showers, toilets and a laundry room. The sleeping accommodation consists of two single rooms and three shared bedrooms with a total of 16 beds. All rooms are furnished with wardrobes, shelves, a table and seating, making the house an ideal choice for school classes, clubs, families and hiking groups looking to enjoy nature, tranquillity and time together.

Fondazione Valle Bavona
The main aim of the Fondazione Valle Bavona is to actively preserve and protect the Bavona Valley in its ethnological, geographical, botanical, faunal and landscape components. It promotes voluntary work camps to safeguard the area. The services of the volunteer groups are indispensable and of great importance to prevent the valley, which is largely made up of chestnut woods, forests, hanging meadows, hiking trails, meadows and fields, from becoming overgrown.
