About the house

At the entrance to the canton of Glarus (Switzerland), 700 metres above the valley floor of Mollis and Näfels, lies the holiday home Kännelalp at an altitude of 1150 metres at the foot of the Fronalpstock. The cosy wooden building was built in 1899, renovated and extended several times in a unique location with a view of the surrounding alpine pastures. The house has 8 bedrooms with a total of 42 beds. The paneled living room with stove bench and library as well as the closed, heated veranda with games box, table football and comfortable sofa bed offer plenty of space, even for bad weather programs. A material storage room and a drying room are available. Dogs are welcome by appointment. Outside there is a large seating area with tables and fireplace, a gravel playground (volley/basketball, table tennis table) and two fireplaces. The Kännelalp is situated on a versatile hiking area (UNESCO natural heritage Sardona), in winter directly on the ski slope (ski lift Schilt) and in the middle of the popular snow shoe and ski tour area Mullern-Fronalp-Schilt. Access by car to the house is allowed for transports. 150m from the house there is a large parking lot. The licensed car course Mullern-Fronalp takes groups and luggage/material directly from the SBB Mollis-Näfels railway station to the house.
