The 300-year-old Ticino house Casa Antica, once the seat of the country bailiffs, is located in the historical village centre of Sornico (Lavizzara/Maggia Valley) in Ticino (Switzerland). In this large house you will experience the typical Ticino ambience: winding stairs, small and large rooms, old fireplace, a soapstone oven and a large pizza oven, terrace, benches and tables. Practical self-catering kitchen (electric and gas) with separate dishwashing room. Dining room/living room for 22 persons, living room and group room. Typical also the Ticino surroundings: sunbathing and splashing in the basins of the nearby Maggia; walking along the Sornico sensual trail; meadow landscapes and forests invite you to hike and discover; walking along the banks of the river to the Grotto in Peccia. Shopping in the shop in the neighbouring village of Menzonio (house delivery service on request) and in the small shop La Botega in Sornico. Accessible by public transport (SBB, FART, Postbus), 3 minutes from the house are the Postbus stops. The visitor's tax includes the Ticino-ticket, which entitles you to free travel on most public transport lines in the canton of Ticino. The municipality of Lavizzara, a group of 13 villages, offers winter sports activities off the beaten track (ice skating in the hall, cross-country skiing, children's ski lifts, snow hiking). The house is open all year round.
Days without an entry are considered free. Only the enquiry to the host is binding.
From Locarno railway station there is an hourly bus to Bignasco; every two hours there is a post bus to Fusio, stopping in Sornico, stop San Martino. Cars can drive to the front of the house for loading and unloading; public parking spaces are available at the nearby school and at the Centro Sportivo. From Bignasco towards Fusio there is a driving ban for cars with a length of more than 10m.
